This was the first team that I had painted on commission, and it was all down to bullying by Frank (the man who was responsible for the creation of Thrud Blood Bowl tournament and the Thrud Auction). I was still a student at the time, and so I really wanted to do something special.
This Norse team is by Gaspez Arts, and they are largely single metal models, with the exception of the Snow Troll.
In the days before Contrast Paints and Airbrushes, the entire team was reliant on many, many layers. You can see just a few of them to the right.
For some reason, when painting this team, I actually bothered to take some step by step shots. The basing includes sand, flock and two shades of static grass.
I also built a simple display base, with a couple of layers of styrofoam and a picture frame; it's my standard easy recipe, but well worth it.
The team sold in 2011 and again in 2017, totalling over £500 raised for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer foundation.
It also won Best Painted Auction Item at Thrud Bowl 2011.
