Marienburg Fireflies

The Marienburg Fireflies were born in Amsterdam in 2011. During my last game, the squad next to me had a fantastic custom pitch - blue and velvety. I loved it, and one of their team offered me his copy.

With a brand new pitch, I needed a brand new team and after a year of using Wood Elves, I felt an urgent need to cleanse with some serious stunty action.

The trees are complete custom jobs, but the halflings themselves were 3rd edition GW miniatures. Given that I hate duplicate poses, I had to spend a lot of time cutting and filing the little guys to ensure unique poses.

The Silverbark brothers were a surprisingly simple addition to the team. Balsa wood, green stuff and brass leaves combined to make some rather personable trees.

Of course, they are massively tall, which can occasionally get in the way on the pitch.

I've had to use Pot Plant as a downed tree marker, which does occasionally cause a problem when multiple trees hit the deck.

Still, they have a pretty good record of smooshing their opponents, even if they do have to stand still quite regularly.
