This team was built before the release of the BB2016 Dwarf boxset, which I do really like. However, these guys were really satisfying to build and paint. They're largely modelled on old Ironbreakers, with a few other bits and pieces. The Deathroller is the limited miniature celebrating 25 years of White Dwarf, which I had kicking around for a really long time.
The colours are based on a trip to Iceland, where it felt it was perpetually sunrise or sunset, and everything was either the pale blue of the sky, or the pale orange of snow reflecting the weak sun. Really beautiful and highly recommended.
Every colour (and there are only four of them) has been highlighted up to pure white, and in most cases has been applied through successive glazes over a white basecoat. They took a little while, but I'm really pleased with the theme. Weirdly though, I never got around to painting eyes on them.
I've been using these Dwarves almost exclusively in table top and online tournaments since the start of 2019. I've had some really good success, and they fall into the category of 'Tournaments Nazgob has won without getting a NAF Trophy'.
Stupid online NAF tournaments.
